3, 2, 1… Happy New Year. Oh the three words we all look forward to as the year comes to an end. A new year? Yes, time for us to reinvent ourselves and set some ridiculous goal to change in the upcoming twelve months. Alright, reality check people. Why do we fixate on this holiday as the time to make a change (#overrated)? Does another year really have the power to make us transform into this unrealistic brand new you? Absolutely not. All of the clichés about resolutions usually last for the month of January, then you’re back into the old groove. Not that there is a problem with that by any means but let’s stop for a moment, take it all in and live life one day at a time. Truthfully, I am just as guilty as the next guy.
Before I step off my soap box, I have a few thoughts for you to marinate on. In my mind life is an Endless Summer. Why summer? Well because that happens to be my favorite time of year. I am constantly in search of the “perfect wave” and not looking back. There are no mistakes but many lessons if you choose to pay attention. Relax and enjoy the journey of life. As some wise band members once said “YOLO” (you know who you are).
Cheers to 2014!
